cf. Dorylaea sp. "Philippines" (Philippines Plum Roach)

Housing:

Something half a gallon to a gallon in size should work for a starter culture, and a well established colony could be housed indefinitely in a five gallon tub.
Moderate to low ventilation and very high humidity/moisture levels recommended for this species.

This species is a climbing, non burrowing roach, so a thin layer of substrate such as coconut fiber, sphagnum peat, potting soil, etc., topped with lots of bark or cardboard hides is recommended. An airtight lid and/or climbing barrier is also recommended to prevent escapees.

Diet:

Not at all picky, feeds well on the typical staple of dog food, fruits and veggies.

Temperature:

75-85F° seems to be optimal for breeding.

Breeding/Life Cycle:

Adults live for 5-7 months on average, and females are quite prolific oothecae layers. Oothecae take approximately 1 month to hatch under optimal conditions, and the resulting offspring take another 6-8 months to mature.

This species is sensitive to drying out, especially as oothecae, but otherwise is very hardy and not particularly sensitive to frass buildups, pests or overcrowding.
